Originally catering to first-time millennial homebuyers in specific professions, the Florida Hometown Heroes Mortgage Program has now been expanded to include all first-time homebuyers, regardless of occupation. Veterans are exempt from being first-time buyers, making it even more accessible. We firmly believe that this expansion will empower more millennials to achieve homeownership and establish stronger roots in their local communities.
How Does the Hometown Heroes Program Work?
Simplified Assistance for Your Dream Home
The Hometown Heroes Program offers a simple process: Eligible homebuyers receive funds at closing in the form of a second mortgage with ZERO interest rate or monthly payments for the loan’s entire duration. Repayment is only required upon sale, refinance, or total loan payoff.
Increased Down Payment Assistance
We are dedicated to supporting young adults in their journey towards homeownership. That’s why the Down Payment Assistance (DPA) funds provided by the program have been increased from $25,000 to $35,000. This significant boost aims to offer even greater financial aid for first-time homebuyers in pursuit of their homeownership dreams.

Hometown Heroes Program Requirements
To qualify for the Hometown Heroes Program, you need to meet the following criteria:
- Full-time Florida employee or business owner working 35+ hours a week
- Self-employed and remote workers are also eligible
- Real estate agents are now eligible too!
- Minimum credit score of 640+
- Qualifying buyer must be within the county income limits
- Co-signers are permitted (if the total combined income doesn’t exceed the limit)
